Troubleshooting: Control Box Reboots on Its Own
We’re sorry that your Shiftwave system isn’t running smoothly. let’s get this fixed quickly! Most of the time, this issue is easy to solve at home in just a few minutes.
Step 1: Figure Out What’s Happening
First, let’s confirm what’s going on with your system.
- Does the control box freeze? (The screen is stuck and doesn’t respond to any button presses.)
- Or does the control box reboot? (The screen goes dark and then comes back on the “Shiftwave 5” protocol, just like it does at startup.)
If it’s rebooting, move on to the next step.
Step 2: Check the Power Connections
The most common cause of random reboots is a power cable that isn’t fully connected. This can happen even if it looks like it’s plugged in.
- At the chair: Go to the back of your Shiftwave chair where the power cable connects.
- Firmly press the cable into the port until you hear or feel a “click.” The flat side of the connector should be facing upwards before installation into the socket.
- This click means the locking sleeve has engaged.
Give the cable a gentle tug. it should only release if you pull the locking sleeve back.
- At the control box: Unplug the power cord from the control box, then plug it back in, making sure it’s fully connected.
Step 3: Test the System
- Power your Shiftwave back on.
- Run a protocol for a few minutes.
- If the control box stays on without rebooting, you’re all set!
